Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti has been described as "Endless plains of Nature’s wonders."
The Serengeti National Park, covering 14,763 square kilometers, is one of the world’s largest wildlife sanctuaries. One of the most breath taking events in the animal kingdom, the migration of thousands of zebra, wildebeest and gazelle takes place here every year.
The Serengeti is 155 kilometers from Moshi, was gazzeted in 1951. It was accepted by the World Heritage Convention as a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve in 1981.
Accessibility and Facilities
Visitors can drive to the park or fly to the Seronera airstrip. There are several lodges, tented camps and variety of campsites.
Lodges
There are two Lodges in Serengeti. Seronera Wildlife Lodge and Lobo Wildlife Lodge, aproximately 70kms north of Seronera.
Campsites
There are nine campsites in the Serengeti National park, Four at Seronera and one each at Lobo, the Moru leopjes, Naabi Hill Gate and Kirawira.
